True Botanicals Renew Collection -Before and After Review

Pregnancy wrecked havoc on my skin. From hyper-pigmentation to acne to uneven texture, I had it all.

True Botanicals Renew Collection and Eye Serum

True Botanicals Renew Collection and Eye Serum

I used to use the True Botanicals “Basic” collection in my early 20s back when it was still in production. They’ve since discontinued that line, but still have the Renew, Clear, and Calm collections to choose from along with masks and body care.

Since the basic collection had worked so well in the past, I went to their site, took their skin quiz, and was recommended the Renew collection. I ordered the Renew bundle during their anniversary sale to see if it could solve my new skincare woes.

**Disclaimer, I am currently breastfeeding and using these products. I feel comfortable doing so as these are very clean products and the main ingredient in question is jasmine oil. However, I am not a doctor or expert on this. See more information on that here.

Before: Here’s the before of my skin a few weeks postpartum.

Some uneven texture on my forehead, and lots of hyper pigmentation all over. Hehe, excuse the eye crust. I snapped this in the few moments I had to wash my face between evening cluster feeds.

2 week reflections: After using the line for 2 weeks the first thing I noticed was how smooth my skin felt. I’d been admiring my newborn’s skin for weeks and I found it hilarious that my skin was feeling almost as smooth. I can’t say I noticed a difference in evening out my skin tone yet, but the difference in texture was remarkable.

The products: The cleanser has a very silky texture and the face oil is absorbed quickly. I like the sweet citrus + earth smell of the serum but I can see how it could be overpowering for sensitive noses.

The only product I find difficult to use is the eye serum. While it says “serum” it is really just another oil. It is really nourishing on the eyes, but horrible for glasses or contact wearers.

After: So finally the after! This is after using these product religiously night and day for 30 days. I also used sunscreen (Supergoop Glowscreen, review here) every day as well.

Not a huge difference in the look of my skin, mostly noticed a difference in texture.

Overall:

  • My skin feels much smoother and looks a bit brighter. Especially the sides of my face and my forehead.

  • My skin moisture levels are more balanced. I would have said I had oily skin before starting this regimen. Now I would say its pretty normal and balanced.

  • My hyper pigmentation was slightly reduced. I can see that some of my more recent acne scars have faded on areas like my chin. I think the deep set spots will take more time to fade. Not bad for 1 month though!

  • Luckily, I do not have any issues with wrinkles or fine lines yet, so I cannot comment on the effectiveness there.

  • I love the smell and feel of these products. That being said, I do love natural earthy scents, so if that isn’t your thing you may want to pass.

  • Is it worth the money? Depends on your needs!

    • I’ve used other clean skincare lines such as Tata Harper and Biossance, and I think the True Botanicals works a bit better. However for the price, I can’t say it works that much better than something like Biossance.

I’ve been using up an old bottle of Exfolikate (great results, but not clean) for exfoliation, so I am looking forward to trying the True Botanicals resurfacing mask next!
